About

Christopher Davis is Professor of Information Systems at the University of South Florida in Saint Petersburg, USA. He holds a doctorate in Information Systems from the University of the West of England, UK. His research explores the way designers and users make sense of information systems and technologies, and their impacts on the expertise of communities of practice: these communities include physicians and other clinicians; fingerprint and forensic scientists and enterprise architects. His current work focuses on creativity and sense making in design, which builds on the socio-cognitive orientation of his doctoral thesis. His work has been published in a range of outlets including Communications of the ACM, the Journal of Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Informing Science, the Journal of Applied Business Research and the MIS Quarterly. Dr. Davis is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the British Computer Society; has served as Associate Editor of the European Journal of Information Systems and currently serves as the Chairman of The Open Group IT4IT™ Forum.
