About

Cynthia B. Leung is Professor of Literacy Education at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg where she teaches graduate reading and writing pedagogy courses and coordinates the English Education and Reading Education masters programs. She received her M.A. in English and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction/Language and Literacy in Schooling from the University of Delaware. In addition to her current teaching, she has taught at the University of Delaware Writing Center and English Language Institute, the Hong Kong Institute of Education, and North Dakota State University where she worked in American Indian Education.  She publishes research on English literacy development of monolingual English speakers and dual language learners and on pedagogy for culturally and linguistically diverse populations.  She has presented papers at numerous national and international educational research conferences and published in professional journals.  Her four co-edited books focus on Chinese and English literacy in China, Teaching Chinese in the US, and international collaborative literacy projects.
