About

My research focuses on improving near-real-time seismic and infrasound monitoring of volcanoes, earthquakes, debris flows, nuclear tests and rocket launches and using seismic and infrasound data to constrain lava dome growth and collapse. Before coming to USF in 2013 to start the Seismology group with Steve McNutt and Jochen Braunmiller, I spent 9 years developing new seismic monitoring tools at the Alaska Volcano Observatory and Alaska Earthquake Center and 4 years as the Seismic Network Manager and Deputy Director of the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. I serve on 10 graduate student committees and teach classes in Computational Seismology, Digital Signal Processing and MATLAB/Python programming. I take students to Kennedy Space Center to learn how to install and maintain seismic and infrasound equipment and record rocket launches.
