About

Dr. Ashour has published extensively in different areas of biology research.  He has recently developed particular interest in the One Health initiative that recognizes the intimate links between human, animal and environmental health. For example, humans’ impact on environment can negatively impact the health of animals. Similarly, the impact of animals on environment can negatively impact human health. If we protect species, habitats, and ecosystems, then we are positively contributing to the health of humans and animals. Dr. Ashour earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Sciences (Immunology) at the University of Texas Southwestern after completing his Pharmacy training at Cairo University. Before joining USFSP as an associate professor, Dr. Ashour worked at a number of institutions including the National Institutes of Health and Wayne State University.
