About
Dr. John W. Arthur is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. He is the author of Living with Pottery: Ethnoarchaeology among the Gamo of southwest Ethiopia (Foundations of Archaeological Inquiry Series, Utah), as well as numerous journal articles in archaeology related to social stratification, craft specialization, and household diet. Since 2005, he and his colleagues Kathy Arthur and Matthew Curtis have received three National Science Foundation grants and one National Endowment for the Humanities grant to continue their work in Ethiopia. He also has a research project excavating the Weedon Island site in Pinellas County, Florida focusing on ecological changes Tampa Bay has undergone over the last millennia.
