Abstract

This chapter will present a brief overview of selected topics in behavioral health, emphasizing the history, epidemiology, treatment, medication adherence, and the role of the pharmacist in the delivery of behavioral health (including alcohol, drug abuse, and mental health) services. For a more thorough examination of mental health and substance abuse services delivery in the United States, see Levin, Petrila, and Hennessy (2004).
