Copyright in the Electronic Age -- What’s an Author to Do?

Many authors and copyright holders are concerned about property rights for materials distributed in electronic form. They seek both to protect and to be compensated for the use of their intellectual properties. The situation calls for all information providers, whether working for a conventional brick-and-mortar library or within the amorphous walls of an electronic system, to examine the major issues with care. This chapter discusses these issues and highlights a few of the more promising solutions to the problems raised.
