Abstract

About 200 gypsum crystals formed within a black clay deposit in Ponoras cave were analyzed with respect to their crystallographical features. The most developed faces are those of pinacoid and prism. Plotting the number of crystallographical forms per crystal against the frequency of combinations we found a bi-model curve characterizing two generations of gypsum crystals that have been grown in different conditions.
