In 1987, the Office of Library and Personnel Resources applied for and received funding from World Book-ALA Goal Award to insure that librarianship recruits a racially and ethnically diverse group of high-caliber persons." The LISSADA Survey, which identifies attitudes and aspirations of 3,484 library and information science students, represents one of the products of this ALA Goal Award. Important statistics are included on the educational backgrounds, gender, and ethnicity of these students, enrolled in fifty-four accredited library and information science programs in the spring of 1988. 210 pages.
