Abstract
Historical and sociological comparison of education for librarianship, law, medicine, social work teaching and nursing. Comparisons among several professions to arrive at some generalizations about professionalization. The comparisons indicate that the ideal professional education has been a recent development for all the professions and that library education has been in line with developments in other fields.
