READ Out Loud: What READers Say About Their Books.” Peer-reviewed poster session presented at the Florida Library Association 2008 Annual Conference.

Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

Many libraries have adopted the READ poster program, some using local celebrities to personalize the posters and using the web to increase their visibility. READ posters at the USF Tampa Library feature our students, faculty, and staff. However, we have taken the program one step further with the addition of podcasts. Each participant is invited to record his/her thoughts on his/her chosen book. These recordings are converted into podcasts and added to the Library’s READ website along the poster, a link to the books’ catalog record, and a print review/summary of the book. We also pilot a program in 2008 in which a Literature class is given an assignment to create podcast reviews of one of the books they read for the class. Poster of the participants and their podcasts were added to the Library’s website.

The poster session was audiovisual in format featuring our READ posters and podcasts. Handouts included a package of letter size versions of the posters, instructions on creating the posters and podcasts, and recommendations on the software that can be used.
